Agenda for the Board Meetings
The agenda for Board meetings is developed by the Board Chair and the Superintendent. Staff members or citizens of the district may suggest items for the agenda.
For items to be considered on the agenda, they must be received in the Superintendent's office not later than 12:00 noon seven (7) days immediately preceding a regular meeting of the Board and not later than 12:00 noon three (3) days prior to any special/called meeting, excluding Saturdays and Sundays. The person(s) requesting an item on the agenda must forward any background information to the Superintendent's office so that the material may be provided to the Board Members prior to the meeting.
Agenda: Regular Monthly | Work Session | Called
To Speak at the Public Forum
Each meeting has a public forum in which citizens may speak to the Board about any education related concerns they may have. Public forum at the work sessions immediately prior to a regular monthly meeting is limited to topics on the regular meeting agenda. Other public forums are open to all topics. Interested persons may sign up to speak by contacting the Board Secretary at 594-1630 or by arriving at the meeting five minutes early.
Citizens addressing issues to the Board of Education during public forum have five minutes in which to do so. If a Board member wishes, he or she may ask the full board to extend that time in increments of one minute. Persons speaking at public forum must address the board chair and not individual board members or school staff members. They must also refrain from making personal reference to individual board or staff members. As a matter of order, members of the Board will not respond to persons addressing the Board, but may ask the superintendent to act or gather additional information.
Work Sessions
The Board conducts the majority of its work and debate during the twice-monthly work sessions. Action is taken on items discussed at these sessions during the regular monthly Board Meetings.
Special Meetings
The Board holds special meetings as necessary to transact the business of the Board. These meetings are called by the Chair whenever the interests of the schools require it or when requested to do so by a majority of the Board.
